Office of Diversity and Inclusion

ODI Office Hours

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) will be open from  9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Office hours will be on campus on and Zoom meetings are also available. To schedule an appointment, send an email to keckodi@usc.edu with your name, the reason for your visit, and a proposed date/time for your visit. Indicate if there's a particular staff member (Francisco Rodriguez-MedCOR Program; Juniper Estes-Service Learning; or Charleen Flores-Pathway Programs & SIGs) you'd like to meet with or Dean Dr. Joyce Richey (Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion) who oversees the Office.

Timeline for Submitting Research Electives

Research Electives are available for students interested in completing 2 – 8 weeks of research during the clerkship phase of medical school.  Please submit the research elective form at least 6 weeks before the start of the elective.  Please contact Fiaba Zakarian fiaba.zakarian@med.usc.edu if you have any questions.

Medical students attending the Virtual Specialty Forum will be able to visit specialty booths and chat live with specialty representatives (e.g., trainees, practicing physicians, medical school faculty), hear physicians share their specialty choice journey, ask medical residents your career- and specialty-related questions, learn about AAMC resources available to support your career journey.

Research Opportunity at CHLA + Guaranteed Authorship!

Dr. Yembur Ahmad from CHLA is seeking a senior (3rd or 4th year) medical student to join a fascinating research project. If you have an interest in pediatrics, oncology, pathology, or are just looking for something rare and exciting in medicine, this is your chance! The project involves a retrospective review and analysis of granulocyte transfusions, a rare type of transfusion given to severely immunocompromised patients with life-threatening infections. You'll be actively involved in reviewing charts at CHLA and determining changes in laboratory values and clinical outcomes after transfusion. You will also be guaranteed authorship on the final paper, likely as a middle author. If you have any questions or want more details, feel free to contact Dr. Yembur Ahmad at yahmad@chla.usc.edu

This year's conference is scheduled to take place at UC Davis School of Medicine on April 27th, 2024. We extend our invitation to all California medical students to contribute poster or oral presentations focusing on various aspects of community health. Otolaryngology Research Fellowships - Apply Now!

Calling all medical students intrigued by Otolaryngology! Dive into a year-long research fellowship with the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
